Palpation
- Patient position
- Sitting or supine
- Place your fingers laterally on the hypothenarf
- Ask the patient to perform opposition of the little fingers CMC-joint while you feel for the contraction in the muscle
Strength test
- Patient position
- Sitting or supine
- Ask the patient to hold the little finger in a position of opposition
- Give resistance towards the palmar surface of the 5.metacarpal
- Do it in a direction which takes aim to flaten the cavity of the palm
