Subscapularis bursitis

Definition

  • Inflammation of the bursa that is located between the upper and distal portion of the subscapularis tendon and the processus coracoideus and is covered by the pectoralis major muscle.

Development

  • By stretching the pectoralis major it may impinch the inflamed subscapularis bursa, this can provoke a spasm of the pectoralis major.

Examination

  • Passive lateral rotation may be painful
